Need server spec info

Going to replace a server for a country club. The network is 11 to 15 workstations with half of them working off the server. The other half utilize the're local hard drive and back up to the server. The usage is mostly spreadsheet and word processing with graphics. Questions:

Should I consider a two CPU system?

How much RAM - I'm figuring 1 GB ?

How many Hard Drives and at what size, and what kind of mirroring or RAID should I use?

Which OP System that will work best with Win98SE workstations?

Software for Networks: Microsoft Client for x# workstations?

Note: - Very small network with accounting and payroll functions being formost.

Dual Proc. is overkill
1GB of RAM is overkill

I'd go with something like so:
1GHz Athlon
Crucial 512MB DDR
AMD760 or VIA KT266A w/ RAID
Win2K
2x Western Digital 80GB+ 7200RPM
Antec SX1000 series case
3Com NIC

even that is overkill. 🙂

The overkill advice was helpfull.

The AMD XP and the VIA KT266A are
what I am looking for in both the server
and workstations.

Current situation: The system crashes or hangs,
and a reboot is required or so they say. The problem
may be in the software of the the Accounting Program
and the Time Card Program. One or both are using DOS
type code even though they are Windows like.

Note: My 400Mhz PII Dell Optiplex constantly hangs on
opening applications. The message is "msimn not responding".
I am not sure of the spelling of "MSIMN" in the above, but it happens
regardless of application. The only thing I can think of is bad ram ( 128 )
or a bad hard drive ( swap file ).
