I posted a topic earlier today but no responses. I have a few new things to add to see if it will help anyone reply to my problem. I'm just getting the hang of and getting into alot about computers but I don't know as much as most of you do on here so I need some help... here's my problem: I've had my new setup for about a 2 months now and everything has run very smooth until just today. I got home today and booted up, everything went fine. I got to my desktop and started up a few programs and left to go get something to eat (20-25 mins max). I came back and the screen was still there and my mouse could move around but when I went to click on something it wouldn't highlight or recognize me clicking there, like it wasn't responding. So I rebooted and it went through the POST fine but before it got to the windows loading screen, I got an error that said

Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
\Windows\System32\Config\System
You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD-rom select 'r' at the first screen to start repair.

Any key you pressed at that error screen made it reboot. So I popped in the Windows cd and booted off the CD drive and got to the windows setup screen (Install,Repair,Quit). When I pressed 'r' to repair it says that it does not recognize any hard disks and to check to see if they're connected. It says the same exact thing when I try to isntall windows over again. But when I go through the POST it recognizes my RAID setup, but the windows install doesn't.

My specs:
A8N SLI Deluxe
BFG 6800GT (1 for now)
2x80GB Hitachi SATA HD's (RAID 0)
OCZ Modstream 520W
2x512 Mushkin Ram
Audigy 2 ZS

I was told one or both of my Hard drives might be bad but at POST they are both recognized? Looking for some help, any little thing will do. Thanks a bunch.

Things to try

1. Put in the diskette you created the raid with and hit F6 and install both drivers

2. reset the RTC(CMOS) Jumper, power down then remove the battery, switch the jumper for 5-10sec, put the jumper back in the proper position, reinstall battery.

3. Make sure that the sata ports you are using are enabled in bios. Check the boot priority section of the bios and make sure your array shows as a bootable device.

4. When exiting bios hit F10 or F4 to enter the appropriate raid utility. Make sure the array is healthy and is marked as bootable.

Whats your CPU?
Are you using stock settings or O/C?
Have you installed any drivers or apps or hardware recently?

Glad you got it up and running

Norton 2005 is known to be incompatible with WindowsXP SP2, If you have SP2 find another AV program
