I relly hope someone here can pffer some assistance, Ive turned everywere and havent gotten much help. I just built my first AMD system (use to be an intel man) I built an Amd Xp based system that contains:
-Apex Full Tower Case
-ECS K7VTA3 Revison 2.x
-Amd XP 1700 (Oem Newegg.com)
-Thermaltake Volcano6cu (not the + series)
-Crucial 2 X 128 MB Pc 2100 DDR
-Deer Power 300 Watt PSU
-Visontek Geforce II Gts 32MB DDR
-Nvidia reference 27.20 Detnator driver-
-2 Maxtor Diamond 60 Hd's
(they have one drive space beteen each other)
-Creative Audigy sound card
-3 x 80 MM Evercool case fans running 2900Rpm's and pushing 30 CFM's

The system runs extremly hot, it posts at 40C and at load has hit 57C Ive tried to call thermal take and they blame the case, I advised them the case has 3 80MM fans and I had a Pentium III 800eb Slot 1 based system that never hit over 39C (I have a temp probe mounted to a 51/4 bay) They then asked if I was using Thermal grease and I advised them no Im using the thermal pad, they told me there is nothing more they can think of and to improve ventalation Im thinking of purchasing a Tower Cooler and also thinking of scraping that Thermaltake take Volcano 6cu and getting a Thermalright SK6with either a Y'stech or Delta fan any suggestions??! Please help

First of..welcome to the wonderfully heated world of AMD's...and this forum :)

I would NOT go with any hsf where you also got a delta fan. I thought the noise would be no big deal but boy was I wrong. I would have ringing in my ears for 20 minutes after leaving the computer room. I changed and went with a Glaciator from Millennium Thermal Solutions which also comes with Artic Silver II compound and found not only did I get better colling than my Delta loaded OCZ Gladiator but it was MUCH much quieter.

mine posts at 57c. count yourself lucky.

With temperature readings it is impossible to compare due to different reading techniques. Just as long as your PC is stable and you can run everything you want to run OK, then your fine. If you want to improve it, throw the thermal pad away and use some artic silver. An SK6 is good, but only buy it if you have lock ups and the like.

how are you fans positioned? I have four 80 mm fans in my Antec 1040B and the front blow in and the back blow out my temps stay at like 30-34 full load thats with a slight OC ! Oh yea I too have artic silver and a screaming delta fan but I'll tell you what my case is very cold I open it and just feel the air flowing so well! Make sure those fans are posision to let air out not just push hot air around also how hot is your house ?

your Heatsink should be fine, if you buy anything, get some artic silver instead of that therman pad. Check your fans. I have 1 92mm blowing right on the cpu/video card, 1 80mm sucking air out the back right next to the cpu and another 80mm in the front pulling air in. My PS has 2 fans so more aire gets sucked out thru it.......

I run around 45 full load

Thanks so far for the replys, finnaly I found somewere to get answers :) As far as the case fans they are point correctly, Pull air in front Push air out the back. Hrmm maybe get better case fans? These are Ever cool ball bearing fans I picked up at nexfan.com for like 3 bucks a piece. But they seem to push a good amount of air, I can feel hot air being pushed out the back of the case, and nice cool air being pulled in the front. Like I said in the first post I ordered that Tower cooler thing, it velcro's to the inside bottom of the case and flows air over th Mobo, Video Card and Cpu...I guess 20 some dollars isnt to bad if it works lol.....Any other suggestions?

If you can feel hot air coming out the back of the computer you definitely don't have enough air flow. Ideally, you'd like the air coming out the back to be just a few degrees above ambient. From the case link you posted, it appears the exhaust fans have integral grills that are just holes drilled in the case. This seriously restricts the flow of air. I would cut out those grills and replace them with wire grills. Your air flow will probably double. If you decide to cut the case, you might want to think about replacing the two 80mm fans with a single 120mm fan. If you purchase carefully you'll get about double the air flow with less noise. The other air flow problem is an in/out imbalance. You've got one 80mm fan pulling air in and three 80mm fans (including power supply) pushing air out. You might actually get better results if you reversed all the case fans, pulling air in at the top and pushing it out at the bottom. While this works against the hot air rising, it would at least equalize the in/out.

The other thing I'd suggest is getting rid of that thermal pad. Carefully scrape it off with a razor blade and then use acetone to remove the glue. Be careful not to scratch the heat sink. Use a good thermal grease when you put it back together. Artic Silver III or II would be best; Radio Shack silicone/zinc thermal compound would be a distant second, but still a lot better than that thermal pad.
