1st, I am running WinXP Pro
I had I-Mesh on my computer and I later read that it automatically loads up your computer with spyware without telling you. I got Ad-Aware and upon running the program, my computer did indeed have a bunch of spyware. One of which, Fasttrack, I could not delete at all!
Fasttrack actually had a page that i found on google that lets you uninstall the directory (flt.dll and some .mon file). Nothing else could get rid of them. After getting rid of these, my computer died (sorta). ANYTHING that is based on internet explorer is dead and cannot be launched (IE, Control panel, recycle bin, my computer etc!!!). When ever these load, I get a windows error and the details always says:
AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2600.0 ModName: flt.dll
ModVer: 1.0.0.1 Offset: 000044de
I can access the web with netscape (like right now...had to download it with the RealOne browser).
Here is the strangest part!!!:
When I log in as a guest, everything functions perfectly.
When I log in as admin, all goes to hell.
I have even created a new admin account and still have the same problem (had to run c:\windows\system32\control.exe just to get to the control panel!)
I have reinstalled I-mesh hoping I could try another route, and the problem presists. Even though i-mesh re created the flt.dll files and folders that I originally got rid of.
Anyone know how I can bypass all associations with the flt.dll file? I am not familiar with reg edit, and that is my last resort that I can think of (besides reinstalling winxp)
..i don't think you can even delete and reinstall IE alone.
NOTE: I already tried system restore to a few days before and NO luck=(
THANKS FOR ANY AND ALL HELP!!!
