Need security camera help (*Please read*)

So, my family and I have lived in our new neighborhood for 13months and have had no problems with anyone in a area. My neighbors and I talk almost everyday, we have cook outs etc.....but about two months ago we had a break in and they stole my car stereo, by jimmy'ing the lock. Things have been good ever since then or so I thought, this morning my wife woke up drove to work, looked in her rear view mirror to see that someone had drawn a huge dick in white and red shoe polish on the back window of her van and the letters 'CHOCLE'.

The van sits in front of our house and we always have the porch light, and our garage light on during the night. We also live directly across the street from a sheriff for our county which doesn't seem to matter.

So, basically I'm asking for some opinions on how I could or can go about trying to get some evidence that someone is messing with our property so I can go to the police. Anyone have any experience with cameras etc.....

Set up a motion detector light with a relay that can trigger a camers.

I use a camera system with pci capture card from teleeye.

The stuff is quite pricy, capture card at 400 dollars for 8channel.

Camera works off bnc coax and need seperate power.

You can get some ip cams but the resolution isn't so good...

i sugggest you buy some shotguns





before investing in an expensive camer you could get a motion light with really really big floodlights in it, see if that helps

poarch lights dont really do anything

The Tazer and Camcorder idea is great, but they will probably sue you for some BS (after all, this is the suehappy capital of the world) and they'll find some way to use your entertaining video against you.


In order to not get sued, I recommend you hire Nebor as your personal security guard for a few days. With his knowledge and his collection of tools (guns), he's bound to have something perfect for every situation. As an added bonus, he seems like a smart guy, so he probably would know how to clean up (the blood and remains) and make sure you or he never get into any trouble over this matter.
