i wanna spend as least as possible but get the best scsi hdd..
i want something at least 10,000 RPM and 9 GB...I really want a Atlas II 10k or something else thats extremely fast like that....can anyone else suggest me some really fast hard drives...and does anyone know how the ATLAS 10k Compares to the Atlas II 10k???

Also i already have a Fireport 40 SCSI Card...i know thats not the best, but i dont know if i want to spend $175 on a Ultra160 SCSI card...also is there any difference in performance between Adaptec 19160 and 29160 and stuff?

You might be better off getting a 7200 rpm scsi [due to price]. The firport supports 40 mb transfer rates?? [Im not familar with it]. I have an atlas 10k 9 gig and a western digital 10k, the wd is a lil faster than the atlas. 61 atlas vs 68 WD in hdtach. I like them both and have 80 mb transfer rates [LVD]

BTW I also have a 4.5 gig IBM 7200 and i cant tell any difference in preformance till i benchmark them does [40] mb transfer.

I have all IBM drives. 9LZX + 18LZX (36LZX is current).

4.9ms access spec. Good quality. No probs.

Have not tried any others.

Got mine at Hypermicro.com. Good prices, great service. Fast shippers.

You can get full retail Tekram DC390-U2W for $130. (LVD, not U160, but full step up from UW, which u have now)
