need scsi adapter

I have a Seagate Cheetah 15.4k rpm SCSI drive and I need to get it to connect to an Adaptec 29160 card. What cable or adapter/cable is best? Thanks.

Seems like it isn't.

Dorkenstein, is your drive 80 pins or 68? If the former, you'll need an SCA adapter. One that is U320/LVD compliant. These are generally $10-$15 each.

As for a cable, you need a 68 pin cable that is twisted pair (the strands look almost 'braided'). Flat ribbon is generally recommended, but you may be okay with rounded. Also, you need an active terminator on the far end of the cable.

I think its 80 pin. I am looking for an SCA adapter. Gonna have to go local due to time constraints. Thanks for your post.

EDIT: I think Seagates site says its a 68 pin drive. The model is : st373454fcv

Can anyone confirm?

EDIT 2: It's 68 pin. So I need an 80 to 68 pin adapter and then a cable?

Don't need the adapter if it's not an 80 pin drive. The cable will plug right in.

You just need a cable and an active terminator. Some cables have the terminator built in.

Does the drive have a Molex power connector? If not, it's an 80 pin drive and you will need an SCA adapter.

Know what? It's a good thing I decided to look up that drive's model number. Knocked that 'v' off the end of it, and found it's a Fibre Channel drive:

I've never even used or researched FC drives before. I have no idea if that SCA connection on the drive will work with regular SCSI equipment (SCA adapter, cable, and card). You might try asking over at forums.storagereview.net if FC drives can be used that way.
