Need schematics for a simple microphone signal amp

In short, my motherboard's onboard mic amplifier is lousy, even with the mic boost enabled. Don't know if it's broken, or if it's just poor design.
All I need is a simple schematic (possible, right?) of an amplifier circuit that will amplify the signal of a standard electret microphone by maybe 20dB, and use 5V. I am no good at designing circuit schematics, but I can make the PCB, and then assemble them fairly well.
