I just installed the command line client on another machine PIII-650, win2k, and when I run the setup I can't log in. Does anyone have any ideas?

Here's the scenario:
run command line setup

choose option 2: log in to existing account
enter email grimwulf@mediaone.net

THEN

gethostbyname: No such file or directory
Server host unknown

And then I back to choosing 1 or 2 again....

Forgive me if this has been addressed, but I can't find info at Berkeley or by searching the forums on this.

Is it the latest client? They changed the server name/address, so the old clients don't work. It sounds like a DNS problem with your internet connection, not a S@H program problem.

I'm running 3.03, just downloaded it to be sure....The DNS, though I won't say it can't be, should not be the issue. The other machine I am running it on is right next to it and is running fine. I agree that with a host name style error it sounds like a DNS issue, but they are configured to within about 10% of each other.
 
You might want to consider running SETI Driver on those machines to cache work units. 🙂

BTW, you're on Team AnandTech, right? I don't recognize your name. 😱
 
It really doesn't as long as you have 64 MB. The SETI client takes 16 MB, so you want atleast 64 MB if you don't want SETI to effect the performance much.
 
You probably don't know my nick due to the fact I read many posts but usually only post a couple times a year.... I should do more posting, 9 posts in a year and a half is a bit on the low side.
