My future father-in-law needs one for his shop. It will medium use printer and should have one button copying(should not require a computer for making copies). Features and ink costs are important so if its little expensive but cheap to own than its no problem.

looking for something that has

FAX, PRINTER, SCANNER, COPIER. I don't know where to find reviews for this things....Help.

HP 2410 is awesome! I actually participated in the beta testing of this unit. Ink is fairly cheap, it accepts photo carts, does boarderless prints, has a phone keypad right on the console, a color LCD screen to show photos/menus/etc, built in media card reader, once touch copy/scan/fax...too many features to list. It's around $299 retail. My wife is a total technophobe and she figured out how to use nearly every feature by herself just by looking at the buttons and reading the LCD screen. I give it three thumbs up.

Got my sister-in-law a Brother 5100C for less than $150.00 at Staples a couple months ago. It was one of very few that would work with a parallel port. No idea about consumable costs, but she got it running in Win98 without me having to go over to her house. Just a few phone calls here did the trick. Hey, that's worth a lot right there!

Zombie,

What's his budget?

Color inkjet or black and white laser?

Fortunately most MFC (multi functional printers) do not require a computer to copy or fax.

I generally advise against all-in-one printers...
Too many times I've see the fax or scanner break.

We've had the opposite experience so far with our HP OfficeJet v40.

I regret not buying a flatbed MFC since we use it mostly for printing, copying, scanning then faxing (in order of most usage).

I wish our local Target B&M's had the flatbed HP 2210 for $64.98 but their selection sucks :(

I deal with a lot of printers...
Just had the fax break on an HP multifunction the other day. Repair costs preclude fixing it...so now they have a mediocre printer and had to by a separate fax. Defeating the whole purpose of an all in one.

It's kind of like all in one stero vs components...components being better.

I have a 6110 all in one and i love it. I use it as my main printer, it prints good photos. Of course idk much about printers, this is the first upgrade since I got my deskjet 682c in 1996 :Q

Thanks a lot for replying. I think overall cost is more important than the upfront cost. It be nice if he can pick up a lazer printer for cheap but not a requirement. Color is lowest priority. The reason he is going all-in-one is because he doesn't have too much space.

thanks.
