I'm looking to replace the stock 80mm fans with some other 80mm fans that move more air (quieter would be a bonus but not mandatory, just nothing louder).
I've really only heard good things about the panflo's. ANything else? How about a direct link to the panflos, or similar?

How many would be OK for a non-overclocked system? one in front/one in back or two/two?

My goodness what are you putting in that thing? Check out my rig below. My internal case temperature hovers about 3 - 5 degrees F above room temperature. If you want quiet, the Panaflows are very quiet (40 CFM at 32 dBA). I do not know the brand of the stock Antec fans, you may want to find out the actual maker of the Antec fans then compare the specs to the Panaflow.

I do not overclock and I run with the 3 stock fans (PS + 2 extras) exhasting the hot air. I started with just the PS fan and my CPU was running about 112 idle. I added one extra fan and it dropped to 105. I added the last one and the temp dropped to 98. It is still a pretty quiet unit, but I would be willing to replace the fans with Panaflows if the specs are pretty close.

Check out heatsink factory here for specs on the Panaflows.

I highly recommend that you buy 4 Panaflo L1A's and use them with your case.. any other fans -- especially four of them -- will be much louder and/or more expensive.. L1A's are almost silent even with four of them running.. my 1000 series case runs about 2 degrees above room temp at all times with these in the case.. you can get all the info you need about getting Panaflo L1A's for around $2.50 each in my thread here.. Thanks. I remeber seeing your thread. But even after readingthorugh the thread I am still unclear as to how to connect these to the standard molex connectors for the power supply. Can you (or anyone) give me a crystal clear explanation of how to connect them (and where to get the molex connectors)?
If all else fails, where is the cheapest place to get the panaflo's ready to be installed with the molex connectors already attached?

BTW Will one of these panaflo's wrok as a replacement for the stock antec 400 watt power supply?

I have four PC Cooling 80mm Silencers in my SX1030b. I think the only thing I hear on boot up is the power supply. These are rated at 28 CFM, 1600 RPM, 20dB(A) and four pin. I bought four of them for around ($8.46x4)$34 with free shipping (Free Accessories).

I remember seeing an 80mm case fan database link, but have lost the link. This would be a great way to compare some of these fans. The Silencer had the highest ratio (noise to cooling). That's why I picked these.

I also want to change my powersupply's fan (300W). Anyone have links or how to's and what is the minimum the CFM should be?

The antec fans I bought for my 1030 weren't "stock" antec fans, and they're pretty good. I would second the panalfo suggestion.

Do you think it is okay to swap the Antec SX840 (pp403x) psu fan for something different??
Like a 60mm Papst or a 80mm Evercool??

A relatively easy way to tail new fans is to borrow the plugs from your old fans. Cut the existing fan wires midway, solder/heatshrink the leads to your new fans. You can attach more than one fan to each plug if you don't have enough to go around or to reduce clutter.

If you aren't interested in soldering, then be sure to buy fans that are already tailed. Some (not silencers) have pass thru connectors that will conserve psu plugs, otherwise you'll need Y adapters, adding to the cost. I think 2cooltek carries panaflos pre-tailed with pass thru connectors.

de8212,

?If all else fails, where is the cheapest place to get the panaflo's ready to be installed with the molex connectors already attached??

I have the same questions that you have. I came across this website:

http://www.markhannahsurplus.com/fanblow.php

?This fan is brand new, and we're offering it to you at the SUPER LOW price of $2.00.
If you're looking for a quiet fan, similar to a Panaflo FBA08A12L then this is a good choice at a lot lower price. We'll add a 4 pin male molex Computer Power Connector to ANY!! fan for $1.?

But, it doesn?t list the CFM or dB. And, there is no 800-number. Any one have any experience with this company or fan?
