Current setup:

board: Abit BH6 (ss bios) slot-1
cpu: Celeron 1.1ghz 128k cache FC-PGA 100mhz bus (coppermine?) w/ slocket
os: Win 98 SE
video: TNT2
sound: Phillips AE

I've been having some trouble with the LPT1 port/printing (Details in this thread) and want to replace the motherboard. Since socket 370 is fairly old, I've been looking at the archived posts but didn't see many helpful threads. I need recommendations on what boards to consider if I go with a socket 370 board. What s370 board do you guys use? I also don't plan to upgrade any time soon so would I be better off buying another old slot-1 BH6/BX6 rv2 or a simliar board for now? I also don't need on-board video/audio and advanced options like RAID. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, I know socket 370 is old but some one tell me what they use/used in their old rigs and what they thought of it. A list of good s370 boards will be fine also and I'll look up reviews of them.

oldfart: Unfortunately I can't use the USB port since the printer doesn't support it or I don't have the necessary cable to use USB.

I can get the printer to print junk in ECP parallel port mode but it says printer off-line if I change it back to the normal SPP mode.

I have used a Abit BX6 R2(BX, one of the best SDRAM chipsets) and a Asus P3C-E(uses Rambus) mobo and both work very well and over overclock well too (if your in to that) I may be sell the two mobo soon, PM if you want more info

Phoenix: If I do decide to get another slot-1, I'll PM you about the BX6. Right now i'm trying to figure out what is wrong and I have a feeling it's something other than my motherboard.

oldfart: I never considered buying a newer (USB) printer. I might go do that even if it is to just test if it'll work. Do you have any idea what might be wrong after reading the details I posted in the other thread? I am also thinking of re-installing windows 98 SE or finally install windows XP pro that's just sitting around.

If you can't get you printer fix I would go with the Abit BX6 rv6 you be able to find one on the FT/FS forum here for about $30-$40
Hope your get you printer fixed
