Need recommendations on power supply and CPU cooler

I have two questions:

1. What is a good 300-350 watt PSU?
2. What is a good cooler for 1,2 Ghz T-Bird?

I'm going to buy the MSI K7T Pro2-A mobo, if that has any importance.

Thanks in advance!

Antec is not hte best. Just because anandtech thinks it is, it simply is not.

I can think of 4 brands that are better: Enermax, Seventeam, Fortron-Source, and Sparkle.

As far as best cooler, i'd look at getting an FOP38/32, or an ALpha PAL6035.

To Avoid Confusion, I'm not saying Antec's are Bad. They are very good Power Supplies, only they are not the best

If you're in Canada, Antec's tech support number doesn't work, and I'm still waiting for email (four weeks)regarding problems with my 300watt supply I purchased a month ago.

Worse... Not to mention they aren't on AMD's approved list, plus the c-orb is not a good performer(the $11 taisol cek733092 outperforms it).

Mikewarrior2 well I will have to argue with ya on that one I personally have used enermax and sparkle (which I believe are the same as Fortron-Source). I had a 600e P-3 that refused to run 800 mhz with the enermax or the sparkle But with a Antec 300w it was fine. The enermax was a 430w and was RMA'd twice and still did the same thing very unclean electrical signals. The enermax I ended up with was a ATX 2.03 P-4 compatible unit and still was a no go for the 600E. I stand by my word Antec are the best period !!!! If I had to make a second choice it would be a Sparkle though :). I take all online reviews like a grain of salt and don't use them as a basis for my advice.

Well, I have to disagree with you.

I've had 20+ antec power supplies, and 8 have had to be RMAd.

I've had 12+ Enermax's, 6 Sparkles, none have ever failed.

well I do major overclocking and it tends to show the weaknesses in design. I will not argue that Sparkle makes a good product. But I think that Enermaxs are a POS I'm sorry but I had three and none of them worked well and I have a friend thats had the same problem. I still say Antecs are the absolute best period and I'm sure theres many out there that will say the same.

Enermax is a POS. YOu need to get your facts straight.

I do massive overlcocking as well.. 650E @ 988. I just plugged in the antec. Couldn't get past 936. Sparkle and Enermax push it to 988.

Ah, the famed NOS440 zealotry comes out.

the difference between you and me: The Antec doesn't work for me, but I don't call it a POS. THe enermax doesn't work for you and automatically you call it a POS.

maybe its just the 430 watts that are having problems I know of 5 out of 5 that held back CPUs from they potential speed. Its a thought

The 5 I know of are spread over the last year and the last one was ATX 2.03 with p-4 hookups on it that I have. So thats not the case sorry.

Good choice going with the MSI board. You will like it.
It is a very easy board to work with!

As for the power supply... I am happy with the Enermax EG351 (330w), Mine seems to work just fine. My Duron 950 is rock solid. I use a Globalwin FOP-32 HS Fan and the temp sits around 39-41 C.

ANYONE find me a similar-quality PS to the Antec PP303X for anywhere near the same cost..

Antec's can be had from Onvia shipped for ~$38.00.

There's a reason the PS survived Anadtech's brutal beating.

My Choices:
Antec PP303X
Sparkle
Enermax

Based on quality, reviews, personal experience and price.

I'm not sure I have never had any experience with that brand sorry.

nippyjun: I'm thinking that it might just be the 430 watt. Also the problem is hard to detect I just found it by chance trying to OC my old 600 and actually had the same problem with my 700e not wanting to reach the 1050 mhz and beyond with the enermax 430w with the 300w antec it goes near 1100 air cooled.
