Need recommendations on new video card

I need a new vid card for the system I'm putting together. epox 8rda+, athlon 2200, 2 corsair 256 ddr.

I really don't do much gaming, this system is mainly my home workstation. I do some video and games, but nothing too much.

I did see someone mention the Radeon 8500 as a cheap/good video card. I found it for like 70 bucks, which I can hack. If there are cheaper alternatives with ok performance I'd be up for any other recommendations.

You're not going to get much fo 70$. The Radeon 8500 was a good card in it's day, but it's day is long past. According to PriceWatch, you can get a respectable Radeon 9500 (non-pro) for 128$, and there is always the chance to mod it into a Radon 9700 (I hear there is a 60% success rate).

I will do some more checking on things. You gotta look at what I'm coming from too.....16 mb voodoo 3 card.......so anything is an improvement.......and I really didn't play enough games on the previous system to say that I needed a new vid card.
