I apologize in advance for stating anything misleading, but really, you have to take an iPhone 4 out and take pictures with it to really see what I and many others are talking about.

The iPhone 4 takes pictures that are a lot sharper than anything else in its class. There are more noise in those shots as well.

I was basing my Captivate as an example. That doesn't mean it's the exception. I've gotten a chance to play with the Atrix 4G, the Nexus S, the Vibrant, and the Fascinate as well, being close to San Fran last night (and you know what happened), and really, the iPhone 4 shots are still uniquely different from the other ones. Especially more so when HDR is on.

GSM Arena has a camera comparison tool in case you want to verify a bit of what I just said:

http://www.gsmarena.com/vidcmp.php3?idType=3&idPhone1=3275&idPhone2=3252&idPhone3=3115

Two reasons why you are misleading....again.
1- the iPhone camera in itself is not any better than a competing Android camera. It's the overly aggressive jpeg image processing. I don't care for it. Even under ideal conditions it gives that oversharpened look with too much NR applied. I prefer doing the work myself. Image processing on the conservative side makes for happy photographers.
2- the link you provided compares stills from video modes. If you are trying to prove something, you fail miserably.

Again, I did not specifically state whether the iPhone 4's camera was BETTER. I was merely stating that it was obviously DIFFERENT from other cameras in other phones.

Please read my post again... CLEARLY before making statements.

WOW. Different cameras take different pictures. ~MIND BLOWN~

Back on topic, if you're set on an iPhone5. I'd either pick up a cheap Android phone or 3GS off craigslist and use that until then. If it was me I'd get an Android phone just to try something different.

Personally I'm upgrading from a Nokia E71 and I have set my mind on Xperia Pro as my first Android. It will be out by April and I can barely wait for it.

And for those talking about photo quality of iPhone 4, I have not seen how good tehey are BUT I would for sure checkout the photo quality of an Xperia Pro when it comes out.

As much as I can't stand Sony's lack of openess and twisted policies throughout the years, the Xperia pro seems like the Qwerty Android to get right now especially if you like me are looking for a GSM android for AT&T's network.

So if I were you I would wait a little and get an Xperia pro from the devil. It won't be as open as a Nokia N900 but at least it won't be more locked down than an iPhone.

I'm sure the new SE phones will have good cameras (they always do), but in processing power they're last year's hardware -- heck, 2009's if you look at the HD2.

Sort of like Apple that way. ;)

I stand corrected. Thanks.

In case you missed the discussion, that post was replying to this:

I'm sorry. This is merely wrong. There is a significant difference between a picture taken by an iPhone 4 and a picture taken by any Android phone. I can testify to this with my Samsung Captivate. There is a signature sharpness to all pictures taken by the iPhone 4, and the colors are a lot deeper and over-saturated on the iPhone 4 shots. Not to mention HDR shots.

Not to say those are necessarily good points, but just to say that the iPhone 4 does take pictures that look a lot different to what any Android phone can take.

Any Android phones does not mean Samsung Captivate. iPhone has one of the best cameras out there and many of the newer Android phones are almost on par with the iPhone 4 camera. Not significant difference.

Sort of like Apple that way. ;)

Excuse me, but Apple actually has comparable hardware to competitors at the time of release, except for the iPhone 4.
