I searched all the active threads, amd could not find any trend of agreement on a decent cordless phone out there right now...be it 900Mhz or 2.4Ghz. I had a Toshiba 2.4Ghz for a few days before I returned it (static, poor voice quality). I also had a 900Mhz digital Panasonic that I returned (earpiece volume too low and the transmitted voice quality on the other end was terrible). Any recommendations on the current line of phones? Any ones to absolutely avoid? Tx!

I got the Vtech 2431 "Gigaphone." It's sweet. You can get up to four handsets running of the same base unit, meaning you only have to plug one phone into a phone jack.

Check it out here: Vtech 2431

You can get the 2461 if you want an answering machine.

White looks so ugly, why couldn't they have made them black?

Btw, are Vtech wide-spectrum phones better then Panasonic Elites?

The Vtechs silver and black.

Yes, they are better than the Panasonics. Not only did Consumer Reports rank the Vtechs higher, but I've used both and much prefer the Vtechs./

I've been considering one of the 2.4Ghz Vtechs that Costco has. However, the one they stock does not have a speakerphone. Can anybody recommend a place to get a decent deal on a Vtech model w/ a speakerphone?

Yep, the Vtech I have shown above has a speaker phone in both the base, and the HANDSETS! Yep, that's right, in the back of each handset is a speaker with a full duplex speaker phone.

You can hit speaker, and stand it up on your desk, and hold a normal conversation.

Man, I love these phones :)

hey, if you can find a first generation digital panasonic 2.4 ghz, go for it.
between myself and multiple gifts i've tried these, the vtech's, and the toshiba

by far, the toshiba was inferior in sound quality and range
my vtech experiences have been ok, sound and distance fair, but they've all seemed to break
on me

i don't know about the newer panasonic, though. but the 2 yr old one that i have has excellent range,
clarity, and i've never had a panasonic phone or ans machine break.

Hehe, amused. Silver and White are preatty much the same thing. :)
I might get the 2461 but.. are the Siemens any good?

I am in the market for a new phone base station so am wondering.

I like the Seiemens 2010 Gigaset Base with an additional Gigset. The entire thing is $294 Canadian. Not bad for two phones and a base station :p.

Another thing, btw. What is the range for 2.4ghz freq. phones? I heard it was around 2000 meteres? Is this correct?

Thanks for any awnsers :p
