Hey all,

A few weeks ago I was watching my daughter and we heard a "BANG" from the kitchen.. Turns out a battery exploded while on the charger. It was a cheapo rechargeable AA battery on a decent quality charger:

The exploding battery took out a few of the terminals and I don't trust the charger anymore(though it still appears to work on the unaffected slots)

Can someone recommend a good charger that will do a minimum of 8 batteries? I would like it to be able to trickle charge after filling a battery. I have about $85 set aside for this. Thanks for your help.

I bought my charger (Maha), and batteries (Powerex) from Thomas Distributing and they've been great. I'd buy again. Nearly 10 years of use in a camera, remotes, wii controllers....the batteries are slowing down, but the charger is still working great. I hear good things about the LaCrosse, but I don't know if they have an 8-battery unit.

Why wouldn't you just get the same charger you had and linked to? Seems like a good one...

Why should I spend $50.00 for a smart one hour charger? I instead use a dumb 24 hour charger you can get for $2.00 or so. They work fine for my low discharge NIMH batteries.
I have more time than money.
