Need recommendation on drive configuration

I'm totally stumped on how to best set up my system when it comes to my hard drives.

I have three choices:
1. 750GB Seagate 7200.10 SATA and 250GB Maxtor Ultra16 SATA drives
2. 150GB Raptor X and some brand 500GB SATA drives
3. Two internal 500GB SATA drives in RAID 0 (what ever brand)

I will have an external 250GB drive in any event for backups.

I primarily play games, backup DVD's and rarely make DVD's of home movies.

Recommendations?

Id go with either 2 300gb or 2 500gb in raid 0. That'll offer the best perf for the cost. The risk ist hat if one drive fails you have to start over from scratch but given windows chances are pretty good if you lost a drive you need to start over anyways 🙂

Anything but RAID 0. That is a fool's errand. Losing one drive in a non-RAID or RAID 1/5 array, or separate SATA drives does not require you to start over.

Go with option 1 or 2. I personally would choose 2 for operational efficiency and performance.

i'd go with choice #2 with the raptor and any storage drive with enough space for you...

no drive can compare with the raptor in booting up windows/loading up programs. it'll make your PC feel overall snappier

keep in mind the HD is the biggest bottleneck in any system
