I have 2K - 2.5K to spend. What's the best can I get out of it.
System is mainly for game and surf the net with occasionally doing CAD works.

1. Minimum: 19 in monitor
2. DVD is not required

Thanks in advance.

That's a lot of dough. You could probably get 1.2GHz + DDR mobo, GF2 ULTRA, 256mbz of PC 2100 DDR, and abunch of other nice stuff. Try look at www.mwave.com and look around on the forums for more info.

Thats grip of money to spend on nice system. Check out sharkyextrme.com or Anadtech's recommended configurations for a system. On the monitor part I prefer Iiyma for sure. I'm sure other members will give you some great recommendations.

AMD 1.3gigHz processor
Asus A7V133 mobo
Mushkin Rev3 Ram 256Megs
Elsa Gladiac 920 Geforce 3 (should be out soon) or Elsa Gladiac Ultra
At least 40gig hard drive (I like Western Digital)
Sound Blaster Live sound card
Sony 19" monitor

Just my thoughts.

www.mwave.com is a good place to order from.

I would do a RAID 0 setup with two IBM 30GB ATA/100 7200rpm hard drives. Then I'd have another hard drive (same kind) for storage. These drives are about $120 each. I'm not sure which motherboard would be best for this setup. I've got the Asus A7V133 and I really like it but there are some newer mobos these days that may give you some extra options.

Asus A7V133(no sound) or the Abit KT7A
AMD T-Bird 1.2ghz "C" version 266
512megs of memory, if your gonna do a lot of CAD (most for 3D rendering)
or 256megs if CAD is secondary and you can be patient when rendering.
Geforce Ultra is more than enough right now, but if you got the little bit extra the Geforce 3 will be here soon.
Soundblaster Live Xgamer 5.1 is resonable cheap right now.
I like Maxtor drives, but I know alot of peeps use IBM's. but get ata100 7200 rpms. Raid if you like, but can be a problem sometimes.
lots of good cooling so you dont need to worry about your system.

Hehe half joking here, but Vapochill cases run like almost $700 but your stuff would be cool in one.
