What I'm looking to do is set up a wireless speaker system in my dining room that I can play music from my PC on. The distance is about 25 feet, would go through 2 walls.

My price range is about $150 or less, preferably less. It doesn't need to sound amazing, just the best I can get for the sub $150 price range.

Also, do I need to have a special transmitter to do this, or can i just broadcast over my wireless network to a speaker? For example, if I were to get this:

http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-G-17-A...ipsch+wireless

Would I need any more equipment, or could I just play from my PC to that speaker? I'm not exactly looking at that one, it's slightly out of price range, just using it as an example.

Also could play the music from an iPhone 4s or a galaxy s3. Not a requirement, but if it's cheaper to set it up playing through bluetooth on phone that's an option.

Thanks in advance for answers / recommendations.

Yeah I doubt you can do it over wireless network without a smartphone or pc at the speaker side..

I'd use some OK pc speakers (like these) and a bluetooth receiver (and transmitter/dongle on PC if needed). But It'd be touch-and-go whether bluetooth would make it 25 feet through 2 walls...

Bluetooth would work fine from a phone tho, and using an appropriate app could bridge WiFi & bluetooth (like a media player playing a network share).

It'sbeen a few years so maybe things have changed bbut I never worked with a wireless speaker setup that I felt was worth buying. Too many issues with range and quality. Any reason you can't run wires?

Otherwise I think the phone method suggested by Richard might be the best

main reason is because we want to be able to move it between the living room / dining room / outside patio easily and somewhat often. All the rooms are about the same distance from our computer room, or we'll always have our phones with us.

Are they not worth buying because they don't sound too good? We're not too worried about that really, just as long as it doesn't sound like our phone speaker.

I've had a lot of problems with range but I haven't tried anything recently so maybe thats improved. As for the sound quality it likely depends on what you're coming from. If you spent $5000 on speakers then it won't sound very good but if you're used to $200 logitech speakers you'd likely be happy with it (I'm still skeptical on range but I could be wrong)

well, what we're used to is our $40 computer speakers and the phones speaker, so We'd probably be happy without a $5000 system, we've never even heard one before.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone.
