I am looking to buy and set up my first router. I live in a small ranch house and will be using it for a touchpad.

Is it just for the touchpad only?

Have the thread moved to networking.

That is a really good price. Do you have personal experience with this unit? Any problems with achieving 100mbs transfers?

If you get 100mbps wireless, it will be a miracle on just about ANY router. With wireless n, you can expect constant throughput of about 45mbps with a decent connection. Still good enough for streaming BR rips, though.

I can feel pretty safe in saying that "No, no one has gotten anywhere near 300mbps with a wireless n connection". In fact 100mbps seems to be something of a great achievement. My N network on the 5Ghz band maxes out around 80mbps, despite ny router claiming 243mbps. If you check out reviews and lan tests you'll find that 60-80mbps is the real ceiling.

In home use yes, but then most also aren't getting 1Gig lan speeds with a 5 port $20 switch with 5 hosts hanging off it either.

This is sort of interesting reading:

Rice university has developed a way to allow wireless to do full duplex. It wasn't that no one knew it was not possible, it was just there wasn't an effective method that would improve traffic speeds.
