Well, my GeForce EN8600 GT seems to be dead. I'm running this in a Core 2 Duo machine. I really don't do any gaming or any highly video taxing operations outside of surfing some demanding websites.

I like a silent machine and have been looking for a new card and wondered what others here would think would be a good video card to get. I would kind of like to keep it under $200.

This GeForce 9800 GT can be had for $150 these days, I wondered if this is any good?

To me $150 is too much to spend if you don't do any gaming or anything like that...

I'll let others recommend potential cards, but I think you should be fine with something in the $50 - $100 range.
 
That Fanless 6770 you showed, is faster than the 9800 GT, by a good bit.

And its cheaper too, and on newer tech, and uses less power.

So if the choice is between one or the other, get the 6770.

the 6750 is smaller, almost as fast, cheaper yet.
Green edition (low power usage) from Powercolour.
Does not require an external power connection to operate



If your not reallying doing any heavy gameing, the 6750 ought to be more than enough.
 
Single monitor?
No gaming?
No GPU-accelerating photo or video editing?

A GT 210 would probably do, or a HD 5450. OTOH, they can occasionally struggle, if you want to do something like post-processing effects on HD video without stuttering.

I was going to include a Geforce GT 430, but the heatsink sizes just get comical. A Radeon HD 5570 has enough power and enough features to take care of the main area where the far cheaper ones can struggle: post-processing HD video playback. It would also be good enough to use for a casual MMO or something.

A HD 6750 will be overkill by lightyears, without games or other applications to really make good use of it.
