Need Recomendations on choosing KVM Switches

I need to get a new kvm switches for my rack setup.
For starters I am going to need at least 8 port KVM switches and a possibility to expand.
Another thing I need is compatibility with a CAT5 KVM extender.
One major thing to consider is I dont want to spent too much and get a fancy KVM over IP or digital KVM.
There are many KVM out there that I can get for less than $500/with cables (without the extender).
I have only experienced working with APC, Linksys, Belkin, Rose KVM and I want to see if other here can comments or suggest a certain brand over another and why!

I have an 8 port Dlink that I use which is pretty decent. Has expandability to chain up to 7 or 8 of them I believe. $210 or so at BUY.COM

Do you know if this will work with any type of CAT5 KVM extender ??
