i'm using the linksys wireless router right now (BEFW11S4). i keep having to reset everyday and it gets annoying. have to setup pw and all that stuff over and over again. i updated the firmware today, but don't know will that help or not. incase that doesn't work, i'll need recomendation for a wireless router. i don't know much about networking. i just want something thats stable and reliable and not too expensive. hopefully the updating firmware works so i don't have to shell out any money for a new one.

Linksys wrt54g or wrt54gs. Its a wireless router that has the firmware open source so there's 3rd party firmware that adds features normally only found in $1000+ ones. It also has ability to adjust the wireless transmission power from a default of 35mw (which many routers are set near that) up to an insane 250mw. Some people have these setup with special antennas that go over a mile. Its been very reliable for me. I only have to reset it once every few months orso, and I've NEVER lost the configuration on it (for some reason it sounds like yours is losing the configuration if you have to setup your name/pass again).

The Best firewall to get is a Stateful firewall in a router.

Fortunately the linksys WRT54G and GS support SPI (stateful packet inspection). At least thats what the linksys product documentation says.
