I bought a OEM copy of WinXP Pro for my new machine and I need a good manual. I used 98SE on my last build and found the "Mastering Windows 98 Second Edition" published by Sybex to be a good third party manual. They now have an edition for WinXP Pro but I was wondering if anyone had found anything else that they liked better.

What are you using your computer for?

If you want to learn, then any used XP book would do. The Gui isn't much of a different from Win9.x, therefore a walk through that come with the XP package should get you using WinXP in no time. There are a few securities & networking enhancement that you might want to take a look at, other wise it is very similar to Win98.

I am basicly looking for a "How do I?" or "Where is manual." I am converting over from 98SE and can't seem to find anything. Second, since I am not familiar with XP yet I am not real aware of new features, etc.

Then that book that mikecel79 linked to would be good.

I also recommend Windows XP Inside Out; I have the Deluxe Edition which I read cover to cover. While it is not casual reading, it is a very comprehensive manual covering both Windows XP Home and Pro versions.

I commend you for wanting to read a manual!

Try turning on classic view that is similar Win9.8/Me, and that should help with getting familiarize to XP.

Log into Windows, then right-click Start , click Properties, select radio button Classic Start menu, click Ok

Search the web for how to & features comparison. MS have walk through bundle with their CD that may help. MS help is not the best but can be use for quick reference when needed. Other wise XP inside out is a good book to have.
