I'm trying to build a cheap gaming server just to kick around and host some games online with.
I already have a 8x burner (I assume this is next-to-worthless nowawdays and was just going to use it as a plain CD-ROM) and a 40 gig 5400 (slooow) HD. I don't know if HD access is really important for a gaming server (duh, it's important for web servers and stuff).
So I may be looking for a plain vanilla CDROM, a 20ish 7200 rpm.
I am definitely looking for a super-integrated socket a mobo (video and lan) that can take PC133 (cheap), a good deal on a chip and cooling, and a place to score some cheap ram. Right now I was looking at the Biostar M7VIG (KM266) over the K7S5A since it has onboard vid.
Anyone have any suggestions?
