I've been scouring google for an essay I'm writing on why draft registration is necessary. Anyone got any reasons I may have not thought of?

Because you can get up to 5 years in prison and a $500,000 fine for not registering for the draft?

Exactly, that's why I registered four times just to be on the safe side.

Because it will instill values such as doing your own homework?

So that the Democrats in charge now, Charles Rangel, can find you in case they decide to push their draft ideas?

So that you can declare yourself to be a slave of the government and the government's property. Also, it helps to concretize the saying: "Her body, her choice. His body, no choice."

That's a great slogan and all. But since 9-11 hasn't the military actually increased its number of white middle class recruits?

I am sure CEO sons and daughters are running off to join yet, but neither are the sons and daughter of rich Democrats.

Our military will always be a middle to lower middle class group. The wealthy go to college and get big paying jobs. Might not be fair, but that is life.

And enemies do we have now that didn't hate us before Bush took office? If I remember correctly (which I do), Bush did absolutely NOTHING to antagonize Muslims before 9/11...

Because if you ever needed to draft soldiers, chances are good that it would be an emergency of some sort... so you want a system in place already.

I hope to god they reinstitute the draft. I guarantee you people wouldn't be so gung-ho for random "wars of choice" if there was a chance their kid was going to get drafted to go die.

Can anyone explain why I need to register for the draft? I mean, if they want to draft me, ok, but why do I need to register? Don't they already know who I am?
I mean, I was born here, have a SS#, a drivers license, a passport, they must know this stuff.
