Please suggest ram for this build:

mb: DFI Lanparty nforce4 ultra
case: P180
ps: seasonic 500w or neopower 480w
ram: 2x1gb ???
proc: AMD64 3200 venice
sound: audigy2 zs
video: BFG 7800 GT OC
hard drives: 2x80gb hitachi sataII

I plan on overclocking to 2.4-2.5ghz or so - perhaps higher if I get a better heatsink.

Random other question: does replacing the heatsink on the 7800GT void the warranty?

Thanks

2GB will be plenty then. Note that tight latencies don't have too much of an effect on A64 systems (but still some), so feel free to spare a couple dozen bucks if you want.

With the DFI board, your best bet is OCZ.
I'm most possible missing something.

Why is that? What's the difference between OCZ and, say, Corsair?

I can't recommend OCZ, but that is personal preference.

Quite frankly you may be better grabbing 2GB of Value RAM (there are others besides Corsair) which should run around $180-$190 for 2GB.

The tighter timings won't make nearly as big of difference as having all that extra RAM, especially for a gamer.

yes, replacing the heatsink on any heatsink voids the warrantee. but, if you follow the instructions that came with the cooler you buy, its almost impossible to break anything.

Yes but why? Is there any reason why the two don't perform well together, or do they just simply not and that's it?

I was wondering that myself. I know that DFI boards are very picky about RAM and don't go well with Corsair, but for what reason? The chips that Corsair uses? What would be the difference between like a Muskin TCCD stick and a Corsair TCCD stick?
