Need RAM for build

Lots of questions, but i'll try to keep it brief.

Basically, I am doing a small upgrade this year.
Have a Core 2 Duo E6600 right now. Keeping it.

I am going to go with a SLI setup this fall.

With that, I have questions on how to pair up good "gaming" memory.
Will be running Vista Ultimate. 🙂

1st question: Should I go with 1gig sticks or 2gig sticks? Planning for the future. Trying to forecase the future.

2nd question: How do you pair good gaming memory with a good mobo, knowing you will be running SLI as well? What do I pay attention to? Does the memory have to be "SLI certified?"

Going to stick with DDR2 and DDR2 800...price to steep for DDR3 right now.

Here are a few memory options I am looking at, but please let me know if their are better options.

Also, planning to OC a little bit, but nothing extreme. Will need a RAM cooler of some sort to keep things nice and chilly:

Here is a list that I pulled up quickly on newegg...top sellers.

Just thought i'd ask before I drop some cash here.

Thanks.

get that and forget about it.

You do not need SLI memory...there is no such thing. It's marketing.

Thanks cmdrdredd...that was actually the memory I was eyeing.

Now, with that in mind, I was thinking of going 2x2gb, but see they currently dont have any. I am planning to upgrade to Vista later this year, so I can get DX10...I know Vista is more of a hog, that is why I wanted to look at 4gigs.

Also, I will need to upgrade my mobo so I can run SLI or crossfire in the future.

Still stick to the crucial? Or would you recommend something else?

Thanks.

i agree crucial FTW!!! just go with 2 x 1gb for now... then u can always add 2 more 1gb sticks... u dont need the 1t timing with intels

I like GSkill and Teamgroup memory too. Both make overclocker memories (binned). Crucial does not bin their IC so they can have poor overclockers mixed in. To be fair, a poor overclocking D9 can do DDR2-1000 at cas5 with 2.1v. A good one can do up to DDR2-1200 on certain configs.

I use 1T memory timing, but don't notice much bonus from it tbh. Since I can set it I do though.
