need ram advice for laptop

Looking for a noticeable speed boost. The laptop is a old pIII 700 w/256 running xp pro

there are only 2 memory slots each holding a 128 stick thinking of swapping 1 for a 256 stick for a 384 total... opinions please will I see a noticeable difference- I play an old game Earth 2150 0n it and a few others but the low frames are more than likely its the 11 meg shared vid memory 🙁. but xp is a memory hog...

You might use CTRL-ALT-DEL and the Performance tab to check your current memory usage. Hard to say what difference extra memory will make since some old games didn't need that much.
