I'm currently looking at getting a 6800GS, X800GTO/XL, or maybe a 7800GT to go with a new pci-e mobo. However, I'm going to be using this card in an antec aria with limited room so I can't install an aftermarket cooler. This is a combination gaming/pc/htpc machine so I want it to be relatively quiet.
I realize quiet is relative but for me, quiet doesn't mean inaudible, it just has to be smooth and low in tone. I would like to hear about your experiences with the card you're using and its stock cooling. I don't mind if the fan spins up when it's running a 3D app because I usually have the music cranked then anyway but in 2D mode, I want a very quiet card.
I won't be overclocking at all. I'm going to have a zalman 7000Al-Cu at the lowest speed setting on the proc and I'm hoping that will be the loudest component.
Anyone use one of these? I'm gonna grab it with Beyond TV and see how it works. I use standard cable and I'm sick of the grabage picture quality I get with the cheap tuner cards I always buy...
