I just spent a few hours scrolling through old threads on choosing a wireless router. Honestly, they were mostly just product recommendations without a lot of discussion.
So, this post is two-fold. One, please direct me towards some good resources on wireless networking and wireless routers in general. I have some first-hand knowledge from my own network but any further education is always beneficial. I've struggled to find up-to-date information.
Second, the specific installation I am intersted in has a span from outer wall to outer wall of 120' (I believe) with one typical interior wall b/n the computer room and the main auditorium. Additionally, there are wireless microphones that get regular use in this same space (I couldn't tell you the exact frequency used at the moment...). So I am looking for a wireless router that can be used in this scenario, is compatible with a wide range of devices (encryption wise), has the ability to set up two separate white lists and or have one access with a white list and a different password with full access and is not too expensive.
For coverage purposes, it is probably possible (if needed) to get another wireless router configured as an access point in the drop ceiling and run CAT5 to it.
Thanks in advance!
