Need QUICK help: pc doesn't start, not psu problem!! want 2 buy new hardware today!

Ok, here's the story in short:

- installed some software, had to restart
- pc wouldn't restart, got stuck on last screen (xp pro)
- I reset, starts up witout video
- I reset again, starts up without video again
- I get pissed, turn it off
- I wait for a few seconds, turn it back on and nothing happens

There's still power running through the mobo (asus a7v) cuz the green LED is burning on the mobo... I already tried another WORKING PSU as well, so that's really not the problem...

So, I am afraid it's the mobo... But could my CPU be fried as well??
What do you people suggest I do/get??

sounds like a driver/software issue why not try reformat/reloaading xp and apps?

may save you some money if thats all thats wrong
