Need quick help on which cooling is better

I have at the moment Thermalright XP-90 with panflo 92mm fan. I'm getting opty dual core and wondering if the cooling that comes with it is better than this thermalright? I heard it's pretty good with heatpipes and all. If there are any tests comparing those two please post a link.

Thanks

Thanks for reply. Glad to hear it because I bought Opty 175 oem from newegg. My mobo has hard time passing 280 ltd so I wanted high multi and opty 175 has 11 which is more than enough. Crossing fingers to hit at least 2.7Ghz.

roflrofl i got that same opty.

CCBBEE 0617 EPMW 😀

Heres how she's doing right now

heh im on water tho. and you might need to relap the IHS. Mine came kinda bad but after relapping it, 18C core temp is hard to complain 😛

Also the stock 175 performs almost on par with a XP-90. So save yourself the money.
But OEM means no HSF, so u might want to go pick up something better then a XP-90.

OOPS didnt read that u already had one. Yes it should be fine. But you should relap your IHS once u confirmed the chip is working and in stable condition

If you're OCing the Opty, the XP-90 won't be very good for you. At stock speeds, it was almost overheating under load for me, upgraded to a scythe ninja and it works great now.

are you serious? people are pushing those cpus to 2.8Ghz on stock coolers so why should XP90 have problems?

What do you mean by relap the IHS? please explain or post link t tutorial or something.

im not on stock. and entropism is correct. When i got the chip first it was heating up quite a bit on water. 33C idle is a bit excessive on water. As i relapped the IHS, i noticed it was horribly unflat. (used sharpe test to determine that)

After i relapped it, and also relapped all my waterblocks while i was on it, the core temp dropped to 19C. Now she's all nice and happily cool.

Also ive gotten as high as 3.12 with 1.55V. But i got scared when coretemps were getting close to 60 on load :X

My opty is used as a media center. So she doesnt need to be spec'd out to the extreme. I wanted to balance ram divider at 1:1 while keeping my HT at 1000mhz. She boots up at 2.750ghz with 1.35V so thats where i decided to keep her at. If you want CPU-Z info let me know as i will post it up.
