Okay, so I bought a Peerless universal ceiling/wall mount, and I want to mount my Primus 150 bookshelf with it. The holes on the mounting bracket don't line up with the speaker, so can I drill holes in the speaker to screw the bracket in? Or will it damage the speaker? I already drilled a hole, so I need an answer ASAP! TIA.

It depends on the design of the speaker, but in genral its a bad idea although in some cases you can get away with it as long as you don't hit anything import when you are drilling into the cabnit and don't comprmise its integrity. just make sure if you do this you plug the holes w/ screws or other mounting equipment and don't leave them open to the air as this will mess up the properties of the speaker.

Assuming you didn't drilll through into any important "guts", you're fine.

Those speakers are pretty basic, so the box just holds them. With high end speakers, much of the awesomeness comes from the enclosure, so don't drill into expensive speakers.

Okay, I'll be putting screws in the hole, so I think it should be fine. Generally, where are the "guts" located, and how do I know if I hit them?

I would recommend wall mounting shelving to hold speakers instead of drilling. The speakers' design does not allow random holes to be drilled indiscriminately. If you got a super set of speakers, no way. If it's a set of Radio Shack knockoffs, drill to your heart's content.

You could find out where the "guts" are in your by taking the driver out and looking inside. The main thing to worry about it where they have the crossover in there (and connecting wires)

as long as u don't hit a wire or a driver its fine. only thing that matters is the box remains structurally rigid
