Need quick advice about using a television with a computer

episodic

Lifer
I want to use an old computer in my classroom to hook to a television's video in to display powerpoint slide shows.

I am going to use an old dell pII

Is there a convertor to turn the video that comes from a standard vga port to the svideo inputs on a television?

If not, what is the easiest way to do this?

Will I have to run a monitor too, or for this purpose can I 'just' use the tv.

Thanks for any information!

yep, proper name is scan converter. although when buying the cheap 30-50$ kind (ie. at newegg, j&r, etc) they usually just label them "pc to tv converters" and similar rather than a term people don't know. If you keep the res low or the fonts really large a tv is usable for running the computer, although it will still be blurry.

Yes, modern video cards comes with TV out port. Which is basically used to connect to a TV. Or you can use what sunase mentioned.
