Need Quality Earbuds

I'm looking for a quality pair of earbuds. What's the best in a range from $20 - $70 tops. I don't mind splurging the extra cash on a pair that are very nice.

Thanks.

Sennheiser MX500s. Good sound, only $20. Go for it. I have them to use w/ my mp3 players.

Do they seem fairly durable? I put my earbuds through hell, and the soft fabric covering came off only after a few days with the ones that came with my iRiver MP3 player.

Yeah, they've been pretty good. They have an inline volume control, if that bothers you, get the MX300s, I think they're pretty much the same thing.

I also lost a the little foam covers, but a quick email to sennheiser and they sent me like 20 of the little buggers for free. 🙂

Sounds great to me...where did you get yours?

Ultimate Electronics. B&M.

I have the Sony MDR-EX51 (or the MDR-EX71). These have awesome base and being 'plugs', they block outside sounds. If you use headphones while exercising outdoors (e.g. jogging), I would NOT recommend these Sonys because of the danger of not hearing approaching cars, etc.

The Koss plugs are pretty good. These are at the lower end of your range; of course there will be better for mroe.

i do NOT recommend sonys for their sonic signature. only two headphones/earbuds made by sony that gets my nod is the CD3000 and the R-10.
the former i own, the latter i can only dream of, but judging by reputation i dont doubt it really is something (better be with that price tag)

as far as cheapo earbuds go, i second the koss plugs. actually reportedely they hold their own against er4 series if you mod them well. for one, i can vouch for them as i appreciate their value every time i go jogging 😀 mod instructions can be found @ headwize 🙂

Ditto on Koss "the plug"s. They're in ear, so they block most outside sound. Great for air travel. Weird for walking/cycling around because of the isolation factor. The most annoying thing I find about them is that their super thin cords seem to tangle very easily. Can't beat the price/performance tho.

You don`t need to use the fabric covers over the earbuds unless you find them too small a fit in your ears without them, here in the UK plenty of street markets sell the fabric covers for earbuds,so that`s not really a problem.

My vote is for MX500s as well which I happen to own 🙂.

We should have a review up on two earbud headphones. I started asking the very same question after a taking a look at a few of the bundled headphones that came with our MP3 players.

We took a look at the most popular two earbud headphones... You will have to wait and see which ones they are though. Not gonna give away a nice surprise. 🙂

Btw I forgot to add IMHO when using the foam earbud covers does improve the bass and smooth the treble slightly when using the Sennheiser MX500s,like all things its really personal taste sound wise.

for me, I haven't tried a pair of earbuds that I liked. I have the MX500's and don't like them all that much. Sound tinny to me. But for portable use, earbuds are the only game in town, cuz I don't want to lug around bulky headphones. Even the over-the-ear-clip-on type are too big.. So i use the MX500's begrudgingly..

They can show up poor recordings or low quality MP3 players, they are designed really to be neutral with an open midrange,if you want lots of bass then I`ve heard good things (bass wise) about the Sony MDRED31LP .
