Need push to buy card

So I've been wanting to get a new card for a while now. Tempted to try to wait for a GTX560, but losing my resolve and thinking of just getting a GTX460.

Was thinking of this one in particular:EVGA 01G-P3-1371-AR GeForce GTX 460 1GB

It's got a lifetime warranty, which is something I really appreciate and I might try to use the step up program if the 560 comes out in the next three months (no idea when it's expected). Do you guys think 170 AR is decent? I'm currently using a 9800GT, and I game at pretty low resolution (13x7), but I'll probably be using the card for 2+ years at least and might move to 19x10 in that time.

Ordering more ram and need to replace a dying mouse, which is why it's so temping to just get the card now.

Wait for the gtx560, it will be the next super card from Nvidia and at least 20% faster then the gtx460.

If you need to upgrade now , yes use the stepup program.

Well wait at least 3 days more. Supposedly the 570 and possibly the 560 cards are launching this week.

Also there have been a lot of deals lately on the 470s and i think it will only get better once the 570 launches. You may be able to get a 470 for near that 170 price point in just one week.

what does the rest of your system look like? 1366x768 is a pretty low res and even a 9800gt can handle most games at higher settings. buying a $350-$400 card to purposely keep for 2 years is silly. during that time there will have been much faster cards for less money. get a card that is a appropriate for your system now if you have no concrete plans of upgrading your monitor.

i7 860 4 gigs of ram. It can't max all my games. Comes close but not quite and I also don't have dx11, and it's 170$ not 350-400...

If you're gaming at low resolutions, the 560 mught even be overkill. That said, waiting 3 days for a possible 470 price drop is a good idea.

It's a 30" TV : p *Shrug* I got it for cheap, and it looks fine to me. Really need to get a smaller nonWS monitor for web browsing and whatnot though been without one too long, but that's probably a thread for another time.

gtx460= super card
gtx560= super card

Nvidia's mid range cards have been super the past 5 years.

Performance will be a little faster then a 6870 and under 300$, that you could bet on.
