Gonna be upgrading to e8400 or e7400/7200. Will e7200 bottleneck 4850 and in what sense?
And BTW, 4850 needs 450w so the ae380 wont work. the recommendation was wrong then , wasn't it?I want something to run 4850 comfortably with no problems at all.
Thanks!

Well how much are you willing to spend on a PSU...you could always move up to the EA430 for $10 more...or even more headroom if you want that...it all depends on what you are willing to spend.

But like Animal said the HD4830 or nVidia 9800GT would be more than enough for the low resolution you play at.

Tomshardware guide did a handy "real world power consumption" guide, showing that (as most the silent computing community already knew) 1k watt PSUs are pointless. A 450 watt PSU with the right connections should last you a darn long time.

I recently got the Corsair 400W on sale at Newegg. Seems fine, and it's a respected brand. I've seen it go as low as $39.99 with rebate.

The rated power on the label of the power supply actually means nothing just like the "recommended" wattage for video cards. Not all PSUs are rated equally, and video card manufacturers make sure to suggest a higher wattage than what may actually be needed to adjust for those crappy 450W PSUs that don't put out any more power than some quality 350W PSUs.

The Antec EarthWatts 380W can easily power an HD4850 with your current rig or with an upgraded processor.

One last question: i read somewhere that we should make sure that a psu has all necessary connectors for all hardware. How do i check this?

Newegg usually lists them under "Specifications" or you could visit Antec's website to see a list. You don't need to worry, though, the Antec EW 430W has all the connectors you need for your system and the HD4850.

You're only running at 1280x1024, don't buy the 4850, save your money. A 9600GT/4830 will be enough for you. And I'll second the EA430, good silent unit.

I've not played with the earthwatts lineup, but am a fan of Antec products myself. Had pretty good experiences with their PSUs professionally, and lots of warm fuzzies with their cases.
