Need programs for xubuntu

Just got Xubuntu up and running, and I noticed it doesn't come with that much software.

Anything in particular that I should look into getting for it? It's on an older system...
 
Check out this page if you're not sure of linux software equivalent to window's software (eg XMMS or Audacious is a linux alternative to WinAMP)

Then check out the Unofficial Ubuntu starter guide to tell you how to enable certain repositories and install certain things.. Also, check out EasyUbuntu as an easy program to install nvidia or ati's proprietary linux drivers, proprietary multimedia codecs and containers (ability to play mp3 and avi), etc. The unofficial starter guide will tell you how to do this, but I've heard EasyUbuntu is easy to use.
