My printing needs are simple, mostly B&W. Want reliable easy to use printer, small "footprint" if possible. Welcome your ideas! Thanks

If you dont care too much about perfect quality but inexpensive to use, the Xerox budget printer is a good one. It has four individual ink tanks ..one for each color that are relatively inexpensive and the printer does a decent job. Its under 100.00 at places like Staples.

I'd go for HP Laserjet 5l

Just bought one second hand, and I have been very satisfied. Makes good quality at low price and seems to be very durable.

If you decide on a laser I have had great luck with epson actionlaser 1500..great used printers and very reasonably priced.

I have heard people saying about getting an Epson 860 for $59, that has got to be worth it

I have a Xerox XJ6C that I got for $70. Ok quality, wouldn't want to print high-res photos on it, and plan on buying lots of black ink cartrages, but not a bad deal.

Get a laser printer. Buy.com has a coupon floating around out there for $30 off $150 and usually has free shipping also. I got my NEC 870 laser for $200 shipped. I don't recommend inkjets unless you're printing color and don't mind paying $40 for ink each time. Also, don't buy top loading laser printers like the Laserjet 1100 because eventually it will start feeding like multiple sheets at once.

Hi,
If you're not going to do a lot of printing, I'd go with an Epson stylus color. I've had one for over two years and never had a problem
Actually any Epson is pretty good. I just picked up an Epson 860 from Office Max for 79.00....and there was a fifty dollar rebate from Epson on it also...total of 29.00 + tax after rebate. On e*bay you can pick up third party ink cartridges for 3 to 5 dollars. I've been using these and have had no problems.
The color printing on both the 600 and 860 is really good also.
Just my .02 worth

I'd second the Lexmark. They're cheap and get the job done and are tiny. The printing speed is relatively slow though, but if you can live with that, then its a great buy.
