Need powerful/quite heatsink fan. Purchasing in 5mins, plz reply.

I"m going to college this fall so since i"m gonna be sleeping in my computer room I want it to be quite. I currently have a k7 1.33ghz and on it is a Volcano II hsf. It maxes out at 5400rpm and my temp at full load is 58.8 degrees celcius. Note that the 1.33 K7 is one of the hotter K7 chips. So I'm on newegg right now looking at what to buy and I don't want to spend too much.. $12 max.


is 45dba loud? I'm looking here at newegg.

go to svc and take a look at either the thermalright ax-7 or the svc gc68 with either a panaflo or nmb <30db fan. also, make sure your board will fit these coolers.

AX-7 paired with a decent fan. A Panaflo H1A would be nice. Or even a M1A if the H1A is too loud. Or a mid-speed Sunon might be good too, although I prefver Panaflos. Basically, an AX-7 with any fairly good 80mm fan should do the trick.

45dba is very loud. Heck, even 36dba is much too loud IMHO. Grab one of these with the 32cfm fan for ~$9, and it'll be under 30dba. Your ears -- and your roommates -- will thank you.

Under $12 is a tall order if you want cooling AND quiet.
I have an SVC GC68 , not that quiet.
My fave is the Alpha PAL 8045T/80mm Panaflo HSF, but it's not cheap.

If you want something "powerful" I'd spend more than 12 bucks. I just picked up a ax-7, I reccomend you do the same. If you want, you can get an adjustable fan so you can tweak the rpm/dba levels to your liking.
