Need poster design help (college club again)

this is what I have so far that everyone has approved


Frankly the poster's they've had up are really ugly and I've wanted to liven things up but don't feel as if I'm getting anywhere.

I've also done other design sketches for them but they really like the bright colors of the first one, but I can't get past the formatting. I have no inspiration..

Basically they want the pictures included and they wanted bright colors so I messed around with the bright colored design..that and they think the globe one is too fancy...
