need pencil for KT7?

If using KT7-RAID, I was under the impression that one doesn't need to connect bridges, that the mobo will be able to tweak multiplier for you. How come I hear so much about still having to pencil or conductive pen the bridges? Am I on crack?

Yes, you can change the multiplier and FSB speed in the BIOS on the KT7 (and through dip switches on the A7V)

However! The changing of the multiplier is only allowed if you unlock the processor. Otherwise the processor won't allow you to change the multiplier on it 🙂 AMD locked the processor so you can't just go in and change the multipliers, but they did it by zapping the L1 bridges.
Intel, On the other hand, removed pins/internal traces from the processor, AMD just did it so it made it easy to unlock it!🙂

Yes you have to use a pencilto overclock a Proccessor for any motherboard that lets you. If you don't have one that will let you then you need to use a diamond cutterand pencil to connect and unconnect the bridges to overclock but that is a waste of tme and effort and is just plain silly
