Hey guys, I just bought a wrt54g and I will be updating it with a 3rd party firmware to be able to boost the signal strength.

Well now I need to know which PCMCIA and USB adapter to use. There will be about 3 desktops and 1 laptop on the network, one of the desktops is going to be wired. What do you guys use? I've read the Linksys adapters are no good, so what brand and model # should I get?

Any and all advice is appreciated!

Buffalo Tech. makes few PCMCIA.

Some provide for external Antenna.

Some work at 125Mb/sec. with the Buffalo Turbo.

And the best is the High Power PCMCIA with provision for External Antenna.

I cannot tell what to buy.

I use the regular plain vanilla card, http://www.buffalotech.com/products/product-detail.php?productid=98&categoryid=7

And the High Power, http://www.buffalotech.com/products/pro...detail.php?productid=110&categoryid=29

The High Power is awesome. However, it is slightly bigger than a regular card, it drinks more "Juice" from the Laptop Battery, and it is more expensive.

In other words, it is your call depending on you needs.

:sun:

P.S. On the other hand if you use the Wireless in the same room or close by and have No special demands any card will do, go to CompUSA and buy any Brand name that is on sale.

I use Cisco CB21 for pcmcia. It DOES have external antenna connections, they are just under the label, although they are pretty beefy, so I've only ever had to use that for test enviroments where all RF signals were connected and mixed inside a test chassis
