Upgrading my wife's Dell office system with a new 23" monitor with 1920 x 1080 native res. Problem is the mobo built-in graphics tops out at 1280 x 1024. The mobo has only PCI slots so looking for a low cost PCI card for office apps only.

I can pick up a Diamond Stealth ATI Radeon 9250 PCI 256MB for $55 local but in looking through the specs, I'm not so sure it will work. It lists a max "3D Resolution" of 1600 x 1200", but no mention of max analog or digital output. Will this card be able to deliver the full 1920 x 1080 through the DVI connection?

Any other suggestions?

Does that card have DVI? If it does it can likely output the 1920x1080

VGA isn't specced for 1920x1080 IIRC

Don't waste good money on a DX8.1 antique that was low-end even when it was originally released. It's unlikely to handle the simplest modern multimedia, even if you can get up-to-date drivers for it.

As s44's link shows, you can do much better for far less $.
PCI, DVI, recent drivers and feature support.
