Need part for Gateway G6-350

My start button on the front panel broke and I am wanting to know where I can get the plastic button and housing for replacement? If anyone has one I would be glad to buy it from you or if you could direct me where I can purchase one I would be very appreciative. Thanks

I know that button. My suggestion is to bail on it, and get any of the momentary switches from Radio Shack or another such outfit, and wire your case's Power Button wiring to that. Hope that helps 🙂

Thanks for the reply. Actually it is the push button that is broken. It is located on the front panel. No wiring is involved. When one pushes the button the back plastic lever pushes against another small plastic unit that the wire is attached which will then start the machine. The part that I am after is the plastic button and housing. I was wondering if anyone had an old Gateway case front panel that is no longer use where the part could be salvaged. I hope I am not confusing everyone with the description of the start button but I have no other way to describe it. Thanks

Could you just take the plastic piece out and leave it? It'll look like crap, but if it works...

We have a whole bunch of the exact same PC at work, and I know what you mean... the electrical switch is fine, but the plastic part that actuates it is broken.

Because I have no source for the plastic part that's failed on you, I'm suggesting that you just do an end run around the problem by cutting the wires that lead to the actual electrical switch itself, and wire them to a new momentary-contact switch that you can put elsewhere on the PC. For example, you could drill a hole in a PCI-slot blank and put the switch back there.

Again thanks for the reply. Early this morning I did get a response from Gateway where they said they have ordered the part for me and I should have it in 8-10 days. I hope I get the right part. mechBgon, I will be using your suggestion if I have no other option.

I would like to keep the machine original if I can.

Thanks for the help from everyone, I sure appreciate it.
