Need Parents' Permission to take sister out of country?

joohang

Lifer
I am flying to Korea with 2 sisters (ages 18 and 11) due to my grandma's illness. (visiting her before she passes away 🙁)

Apparently, I might get in sh*t at the airport because "they" (god knows who they are) might suspect me of kidnapping my own sister!?!?!?!?!????

Since my younger sister is only 11 years old, I need permission from my parents. Uhh.. They are both in Korea right now.

WTF.. Kidnap my own sister? Umm... Anybody familiar with this kinda crap?

No.. "pics?" posts are not welcome here. I'm dead serious, so piss off.

The flight place warned me about it. They gave me a site address, but it's not working.

I'm gonna make a few phone calls tomorrow, but I thought I'd ask here first. 🙂

<< have id that can prove your related. >>

Pretty obvious that I'll have my passport when I'm flying to Korea from Canada. 🙂

I doubt there will be any trouble. My friend was underage and traveled to many countries with me (over 18). Nobody cared. Especially now, probably a lot more emphasis on catching potential terrorists than anything else.

When I've traveled to the far away land of Mexico, I've needed a notarized statement from ex that alowed the international travel of our child...

I know now is a little late to think of this, but for the future, perhaps your parents can sign a document or have a lawyer prepare a document which makes you and your sister who is 18 the legal guardian of your little sister... That way in events such as these you can present this paperwork and shouldnt have to worry about any problems.
