Going from weakest to strongest opiate:

codeine ---> hydrocodone ---> oxycodone

tylenol #3 = acetaminophen + codeine
Vicodin = acetaminophen + hydrocodone
Percocet = acetaminophen + oxycodone
Oxycontin = oxycodone

proproxyphene is weaker than codeine and is found in Darvocet, which is a combination of acetaminophen and proproxyphene

the strongest opiates are morphine, methadone, meperidine (demerol), and fentanyl

10 mg of codein is much weaker than oxycontin

Don't forget Dilaudid (Hydromorphone)

My roomate has prescription fentanyl lolli-pops. They're pretty crazy, they taste like raspberries and you just stick them between your gums and you mouth until they dissolve and trust me they do the trick.

oxycontin is very addictive, as is hydrocodone, they are both opiates.

Oxycontin is absorbed more slowly that MS (morphine sulphate) because morphine is given IV for the most part, and oxycontin is taken orally.

Depending on the dose and route you will get very different effects. I have given all my morphine on my ambulance to 10% burn victims and it did not even touch the pain (20mg IV, and 5 min transport). Chronic pain sufferers will also build up a tolerance, which will require a higher dose for the same effect.
