my roomate's job is paying for our cable connection, he works from home and we share it even though we are not supposed to, but i can't use the wireless router because the passord is set by his tech people and they do not allow it period, i am sure he is bit paranoid about whole situation but the nagain i cant complain, so i though of buying one and connecting it to my rig and then running wireless to the other computer in the bedroom, this should work and be totally fine...i don't want to mess with his machine and he won't let me either, let's hear it from the forum 🙂

If work does not restrict your room mate from sharing the raw connection, you can get an Inexpensive Wireless Router (there are some on sale for less than $20), and connect it to you current Router as a switch with an Access Point. You would have your own Wireless with your SSID and "PassWord".

Using a Wireless Cable/DSL Router as a Switch with an Access Point

You do not risk someone else Job for $20 No matter what is the excuse.

sorry for the confusion, they actually mean i can't use wireless not wired because for higher risk of security, we've been on the same raw connection for a while and they have no problem with that 🙂
